Jay Leno Denies Top Gear Hosting Position, a Panthera Design Concept, a newer, faster NSX? - 04/01/2008

The American Top Gear must go full out, and pull no punches when testing and commenting about cars…there is really no point to the show otherwise. I mean there are already tame motorweek like shows on TV. I like the idea of an American Top Gear, but quit looking for well known hosts just to grab an audience who “might” like that person. Look for new people, with character. Personally we should just expand upon what we are all doing here online and take it to TV. This type of news mixed with Car & Driver detailed car reviews and tests, plus use of there Lighting Lap race track as a permanent test course would be perfect for Americans.

NO AMERICAN TOP GEAR! it will be like MC hammer. it will be cool for like a week then it will flop and be canceled before the first season is over. We always ruin British shows when we try and remake them.

Alex, tell Mercator to stop posting compliments about you on the forum...It's obvious that he is one of your friends or boyfriend, etc. I feel embarrassed for you because Mercator's attempts to elevate you make it obvious and transparent that he/she is someone who knows you personally. Leave "Top Gear" to the Brits!! Somethings you just can't copy!!! If thet want to do something just broadcast it over their network.

Alex isn't robotic, she is all twisty. She rules. NSX looks a little too much like the Audi. American Top Gear = bleh. We need to stop stealing UK shows (like survivor, idol, weakest link, top gear) Alex needs her bio on the host link.

Hey FLD, i never thought this day would come but I'm very disappointed at todays show, I expected something awesome for April fools Day!! With the DD or something! Alex is hot yeah, but she's not as entertaining as the D-man... It was just a lame attempt, booo...stories weren't too good either, but the new NSX does interest me. I still love FLD, but todays ep was just blahhh....

i have mixed feelings about american TG. the chemisty between the UK hosts really does make the show and i do not think we should mess with that. they just need to get the airing rights from BBC to put it on network television here. new nsx is looking great and a new panthera would be amazing w/o the lambo engine

Alex is lookin good. Too bad Leno wont host American Top Gear, but nice to hear him give props to the BBC Show. American TG could potentially be as good, so long as they really drive the cars hard...and most importantly, so long as they can have the balls enough to be truly objective about the cars they review, and not have to suck up to current or potential sponsors. Being an NBC show...I kinda doubt their ability to be objective. Poll: Whos gonna be the American Top Gear "Stig"? Now if FAST LANE DAILY would start up a show where you track-tested some cars...you could be totally objective and free from any executive-level pressures/limitations of a major broadcast corporation. Go ahead and switch Garage419 to that format..or start a new channel...and Id watch it as regularly as I do FLD. Seriously, get yourself some insurance, a good driver or two...and start requesting manufacturers to send you some rides for testing/reviews. SERIOUSLY DAMMIT.
