Shanghai Auto Show, Porsche Panamera, Jaguar XKR Racecar, Bertone Project M - 04/20/2009

I don't know why everyone has such a hard time when a manufacturer tries something new. It is not like ALL Porsche cars will look like that from now on.
And from a strictly business point of view , diversity is your best way to success.

This Panamera looks more stupid then Vin Diesel wearing pink tights and a fluffy hat. Yes i am aware that some people may like that. But if this car being the medusa of cars isn't bad enough, I still expect Porsche to move metal when its released. So expect people to turn to stone when a Panamera drives along a road near you............

I don´t understand a 300hp porsche, even 500hp is below par in the segment for 2010 with AMGs, BMW Ms now at 550hp levels, Nissan preparing their 4.0 and 4.4 liter engines will all be around 600hp ... the Panamera is a substandard rendition for people who can´t pronounce the word "Porsche" properly, even a 2010 maserati 4 door is better.

No doubt about Porsche tech superiority, but that Panamera just does'nt have any character...

the panamera looks nice, and i am happy that it has the performance.  This is what porsche should have done instead of making suv's.  This is the "porsche" people mover.  Not some jacked up jeep.  i think they should leave suv's for lesser beings.  

In the back of my head i dont want to like it because of its originator, the person behind this panamera was the same person behind the vw phaeton('piech' of chit).  Apparently that bastard wont let got the gynormous sedans alone.  At least it makes more sense in this catergory.

I know this doesn't have anything to do with this episode but DD where can I get that watch you're wearing?

Wonderful.  More rehashed information on the Panamera.  I'm pretty sure we've heard it on a previous episode.  Sure, some people need a 4 door to haul kids around.  Most people would buy an SUV or a mini van for that.  Not something I'd drive the kids to a scoccer or football game.  You'd spend the rest of the day cleaning up the thing.  A proper sports car will have 2 doors and room for 2.  The 911 is just right for hauling 2 Eric Lynch sized people in the back, close to that wonderful turbo boxer engine.  Eric the Midget...you rock!

The Mantide looks like Hell.  I do respect the fact the design is unique though.

I'm so tired of all this first comment crap!!!  Say something intelligent, but don't every say "First"  it's just stupid.  

Did they leave the Corvette hood window on that Italian redesign?  I hope not as I think that is the worst feature possible on the corvette... it's almost as lame as saying "first" on a FLD comments.

I like the Porsche!  I think that we will be surprised by it's sales numbers just like everyone was surprised by their SUV sales...  Us old farts need 4 doors to move the kids around in.
