I would never buy a hybrid!! I'd be rather rolling around on a rim of my Lamborghini and I kind of think that would be faster! Come on a hybrid?! WTF!!! I woldn't even drive one if I'd get one for free neither if I would get payed for driving one. A bicycle is faster and that has no CO2

From what I read about the Insight in AutoWeek (sorry to mention one of your competitors, guys...), it's appeal within the JDM is that, relative to the Prius (and I do want to emphasize "relative"...), it is more performance-oriented (in the "sporting" vein (as opposed to the true "sports" vein)) in its suspension, tuning, tire selection, and when the electric motor (versus the gasoline engine) is used. Relative to the Fit and Civic Hybrid, it's interior room appears to be larger than the Fit and more practical than the Civic Hybrid (given that the latter doesn't have a hatchback/notchback/wagon/estate version). IMHO, if the Ingisht's effective gas mileage meets or exceeds the Fit (in the U.S.), I would seriously consider getting one (given that we'll never see the Fit Hybrid, which they've deliberately prevented from coming to the U.S. thanks to the Insight... :-( ), provided I had the coin for it...

Hybrids make sense for Japan but not the US. We need diesels because everything is so spread out. Wake up people.

I would not buy a hybrid until they can make them a bit more practical. The batteries are just plain too heavy. wouldn't hurt if they could make them look nicer and cost less too. right now, if you really want to save money, you might as well get a small diesel. Lower initial cost, some cases better gas mileage, and much cheaper to maintain.

Yes, I would buy a hybrid if I had the chance. Some sleeker designs on the hybrids would be more desirable though. Also Derek, could you do me a really big favor?? Could you please kick the feeds sign with a karate kid style kick, and then follow it with some old style kung fu movie translation subtitle! I think you could really pull it off. My wife (misty) and I will probably piss ourselves laughing!!!

I think battery only cars are not realistic. Hybrid technology is essentially a crutch. IMO, we need to move our entire diesel infrastructure to a diesel/bio-diesel blend sooner than later. E85 is not a good idea unless it moves to a non-food based source. I tihnk we should invest in future technologies that focus on cleaner nuclear power, hydrogen infrastructure for vehicles, and better/cheaper/appealing solar power.

Id never buy a hybrid. Not anytime soon atleast. They dont hold theyre value. they dont last, and they dont have any balls. If u want something that DOES do all of those, get a diesel. Reliable, fuel efficient, and they definately have tons more balls than hybrids.

hell yeah id buy the new honda hybrid. expecially since its a honda. hondas never break plus with vtec dohc, and hks stickers i can get about 500hp on a stock motor. that way a can beat a corvette and still get 40+ mpg. honda power baby!!!!

Hydrogen cars are a novel concept, but it had the silliest dichotomy. Produce power in some form (electricity) to make hydrogen in a factory, to put in a car, which makes "electricity" to power its engine. Or you can just make an electric car, period! Then focus on making clean energy production to send power to the cars. Using hydrogen to make electricity creates an extra step for no reason. Battery technology will grow in capacity and efficiency, plus shrink in size like the cell phones’ did, due to demand. They most likely will get far smaller and double to triple in storage. This will solve the bad eco foot-prints the batteries put on all hybrids and full electric cars. Hydrogen, if it was easy to produce cleanly makes sense only to replace gas with, to replace hybrids. But in the grand scheme of things, a 100% electric car with a highly efficient battery(s) makes the most sense.

Good job Honda, Now make the Insight NOT look like a hybrid. Why are they taking styling from the Pontiac Aztek?
