I had to play Army for a little bit so I'm a little behind, but here goes anyway. First, the answer to Ferrari's turbo troubles is to add a supercharger- not by its-self however. They should use the supercharger to prime the turbo, then when the proper exhaust pressure is reached, either expel the unnecessary supercharger spool through a blow-off valve, or keep feeding it into that turbo. The army uses this set-up on their Detroit diesel engines in their larger vehicles. Next thing, racing should become this: 3 car classes set up by power to weight ratios. First car class would be the average pwr/wt ratio for the various manufactures of sport compact cars Second car class would be the average pwr/wt ratio of all mid-size vehicles (M3/S4/C36 size) Third car class would be unlimited. The rules would be a specific fuel cell size for each class; if the car did not come with it (SC, TC, Limited Slip, AWD, AWS, etc), you can't put it on; stock tire sizes must be used; dot legal tires must be used; stock fenders must be used; stock hood must be used; stock wind-shield, and rear window angle must be used; stock engine block must be used; stock transmission must be used, and all cars must be registered, and street legal; no cars may be used by manufactures that make less than say 500 models a year. This situation would allow for racing cars on Sunday, and selling them on Monday, more of a direct relation. If car companies want to be successful in this series, they need to improve the cars that the average person can buy. It also makes it impossible for one company to significantly affect the racing series, because average pwr/wt ratios are taken for the majority of the cars in the size category. The series effects the companies that participate, and the companies effect the series. Perfect symbiotic relationship. I want to root for a car I can buy!
