The FORD TAURUS SHO has to be one of the best cars released by a U.S. auto maker in 2009. Besides that fact that Ford did a beautiful Job with the exterior design, they also went continued that excellence to the Interior and also to the technology being offered in it.

GTR dudes, Common. think about it, its the giant killer for more than half the price. Its more than bang for the buck. the zr1 is killer too, but its no where near as an everyday driver like the gtr nore does it has the quality. Im not a ricer but i do know a great car. The GTR IS a great car. and will hold its value.

2009 Subaru Impreza WRX not the STi just WRX. And before you say that it was launched in 08 look at the specs of the 09. Subie made a booboo when they made the 08 all soft and normal BUT they quickly listened to their rally minded enthusiastic driving base and made the WRX what it could/should be. 265hp. firmer suspension etc and if you look at the numbers it trumps the old STi. Small SUV space, tuning galore, and ultra-reliable.

In 2009 Subaru responded to the Global economic downturn by Improving the already badass WRX. They sacrificed the performance gap between it and the STI by tuning the suspension and upping the power thus bringing its zero to sixty time within one tenth of a second of its more powerful sibling. By doing this Subaru sold less STI's but they helped keep the performance car market alive. That is why I nominate the 2009 Subaru WRX. Thank you Subaru

ummm did anyone happen to notice that in the FL Detours that the reviewers comments about the seat belt were kind of pointless and wrong due to the fact that if anyone paid attention they would have noticed the shoulder belt holder on the seat that would hold it next to you and make it more easily accessible. Then you just unhook it out of the holder when you fold the seat forward to get in the back seat. So really the car was well thought out in that particular detail. those Germans, they really think of everything. My vote also for ZR1 and the Cadillac CTS-V, but if the Rossion Q1 is considered a 09 model, since this is when it first went on sale then the Rossion, but it was announced years ago. Porche 911 GT3 RS, Please everyone what are some other good cars.

Since the panamera doesn't count as a 2009 mod year car, I'd say the ZR-1 with the CTS-V as a close second. The ZR-1 isn't a robot like the GTR (as many people have already stated). It's wickedly fast, and the interior is garbage, but at least you won't have to worry about spilling something on tan leather. That's the way I look at it.

GT-R by far for 2009. Now about the GTI. VW has been known to make great cars at least great when you first buy them. Then the quality issues start to raise their ugly heads and things just start failing. Sorry but my choice was a Mazda3 hatch since I know it doesn't have the quality issues VW will undoubtedly have. Great car to lease though if that's your thing. The wheels need to go though since they look a lot like the old teddy bear wheels. How about just mounting proper ultralight BBS rims like in the old days? Audi 1 will be too expensive to succeed in the US and it will compete with the GTI. Not a good plan for a struggling car maker.

I prefer the CTS-V over the rest, just because of the fact that it is an awesome all around car. Great inside and out with power...POWER!!!!!!!!!!! I mean come on 556 from a luxury sedan and under 70k.

voting for the cts-v. I cant think of a car that does so much at that price. It means that all the euro guys will have to step up their game in a segment theyve dominated for years. Helps that its a good looking car too. How do you argue with 0-60 in under 4 sec in a car you can use every day?

The car of 2009 has Has HAS to be the Corvette ZR1! Look, the main complaint about the ZR1 is well.....that it's a Corvette. But that's the best thing about it. It's simple, it's elegant, it doesn't need any bells or whistles. I'd say more about it, but I think I'll just let that big, supercharged V8 speak for itself. Also, things might be kind of awkward between the ZR1 and the CTS-V in the competition. It'd be like two cousins competing in the same beauty pageant or..........whatever. I'm not that good at doing analogies.

Guys, maybe you could pass out some info on the next ford F-250 powerstroke diesal engine. I was excited about the Ecoboost, now I'm excited about the new 6.7L. It has TONs of "outside the box" thinking in it. I just think you guys could throw ford a bone for making something unquie. Rumor is... 400hp and 750-800TQ.

My vote goes to the fantastic nissan 370z. I've driven one, and other than the fact its a 2-seater ( as is a few of your other options ), its just great all the way around. They really made the 370z look BETTER than the 350z, while not completely getting away from that type of styling. My favorite stat ? IT LOST WEIGHT. Every car built in 2009 weighs more than the 2008 version. Every car built in 2010 will weigh more than the 2009. The 370Z actully LOST WEIGHT. You can still get a REAL 6-speed tranny. And you can get one for LESS than K with fair options, which is really perfect for "global economic downturn"(thunder). I'm not saying the ZR1 isn't pretty good, but its fairly limited number spliced to its rather high price ( you can get the viper ACR-X for the same price ) makes it pretty much unabtainable for every person that isn't a.... Non-middle class. The VQ nissan engine has also proven its self as a reliable long term motor. I guess the Taraus SHO is a 2010. I liked JF's reveiw of the "new" GTi, but it looks like they put different headlights on the old GTi, and then screwed up and didn't give it even 5 more HP. I've ridden in a chipped mk5 GTi and VW left plenty of room to play with with the FSI motor. They could have just tweeked the code and got another 5-10hp and it would at least make people "FEEL" like they are getting a "BETTER" motor then the last GTi.
