Ok, worst place to speed:

Ontario (Canada). Why?

Last year they passed a law to cut down on street racing. However, the law goes as follows:

If you are caught driving 51 km/h over the speed limit (30mph), regardless of the circumstances, whether you are racing or not, open road or not, driving to a hospital because you had a heart attack or not, your CAR WILL BE IMPOUNDED for (minimum) a week, you will be facing a  000-  000 fine and a 0 towing and impound fee. It is absolute insanity!

And don't forget, on the one and only highway that crosses Canada (the Trans-Canada) has a less than stellar limit of 100km/h, or 60mph... as do all highways. 

Best road to speed? Easy. Alligator Alley. I-75 (tollway) between Naples and Ft. Lauderdale through the Everglades, 100ish miles, two curves, two exits, flat as a board and you can see what's ahead of you and behind you for miles. I know of more than one person who has found the speed limiter in their car on the Alley. Some people commute daily between Naples and Ft. Liquordale and pare their time down as needed if they are running late.

The A5 from Basel to Frankfurt(Germany) is great. I drove a porsche 944 turbo in the middle of the night all the way up to frankfurt at almost topspeed. That was great fun!

i road trip a lot....i have to say...montana is by far one of the most fun places to speed. there is wide open roads, windy roads, gradual curvy roads. and it helps that the speed limit is like 80 throughout the whole state. 

You know, thinking about the iPod Touch in the Scuderia...  Wouldn't that give you a very compact combo of music, GPS, datebook and dyno in one package.  With the constant expansion of 'apps' on the iPod, I could see it useful in many sports cars as a lightweight add-on. 

Far worse driving habits cause accidents than driving fast on a highway or country road, yet this is where the police focus their efforts...in spite of there being far fewer highway accidents.  It's laziness on the side of law enforcement.  First going after highway speeders, second using unmarked cars and hiding, next using speed guns and now using unmanned devices.  God forbid they work for the tickets or go after crappy in-town drivers who run stops/lights, don't maintain their vehicle, read/apply makeup/talk on cell phone while eating with kids in the car, too old to drive a straight line or drive anywhere near the speed limit, etc. Far, far worse things than speeding...but they're harder for them to go after.  Just plain lazy police work.

I encourage safe driving behavior at any speed, thank you very much. I think that a good driver speeding is far safer than a poorly trained or distracted driver at any speed. It would be hypocritical of me to say that speeding is wrong when there are dozens of videos of me doing just that on the internet for all to see. Speeding on an open road where you have nothing to risk but your own life is just fine by me, but driving irresponsibly is another thing entirely.

I can't see why GM didnt file CH 11 ages ago, release themselves from legacy payments & start fresh -> NGM New GM.

If it worked for American Airlines, it could have worked for the General.

Chrysler has a great dealer network in Europe! 300 C which is built on a Merc E class platform sells quite well actually.

And what about the Challenger & SRT8?

I think they did a way better job styling than GM did with the Camaro. Too bad its such a gasaholic.

Re fuel consumption, they have made great progress. Look at the Vette. Its by far the best fuel consumption sports car around in its category. {No, it doesnt compete with Lotus directly}.

Re. Dodge Avenger GBP 18,000 = U$SD 27,000! Dealer Invoice is about 18,000 U$SD!

I also agree with Rexseven about UNIONS being largely responsible!!!

And the comment about soft tops. Why didnt Ferrari use the similiar SUPER AMERICA folding roof?! That was simply beautiful!!!

Route 22 north of Amenia, up to route 7.

Route 2 across from Troy, NY to Williamstown, MA

And there are a TON of roads up in the Catskills and Adirondacks that are great for speeding.

Also, watch yourself on 9W just north of the Bear Mountain Bridge - the town is a notorious speed trap!

Lake Road, Webster, New York, has a small hill section with many turns much like driving in the Italian alps, then a straigh where all the boy toy ricers go race hand me down ford taurus'.

i know why the F430 Scud. Spider comes with a Ipod Touch ..... Dynolicious ... obviously ... or to make sure you look like a total twat if you use it for music

A great road is Route 9 through New Hamphire and Vermont. Great twisty winding road. My VW got put through it's paces last time I was up there on my New England vacation. 

anywhere where im from in upstate Pennsylvania, for years ive seen about an average of 2 cops a year, best by far,

Favorite place to speed...anywhere but the state of New York. I drove from Miami to Rochester last Oct. in my M5 I was able to average 85-90 and only saw i trooper (helping someone with a flat) until i hit Ny state line, from there I passed 12! I can't imagine why our taxes are so high.
The Spyder is a cute car for a girl.

Building a Scuderia Spyder is stupid. The Scuderia stands for the best tracktoy from Ferrari and they saved 200kg from the original F430 to make this car a proper track car.
With the top off they only reduce 85kg from the original F430Spyder, which is a lot heavier than the coupé version.
Btw. Ferrari saved also weight by not build in a music system in the Scudereia Coupe. I never saw a Scuderia yet with a radio!!!(Think of the IPod ;-) in the spyder)


In eastern Germany you shouldn't speed that much because they have tons of speedtraps there.
btw. 2weeks ago I read in the newspaper that bavaria has not enough staff who go through the speed camera pictures and send the tickets to the people!!!

Growing up outside of NYC and now living in Utah I can say without a doubt the place to drive the safest at high speeds is the west.  Going from Salt Lake City to Vegas there is always plenty of spots to open it up without having to worry about a hidden trooper.  I've been able to make the 400 mile trek in a little under 4 hours.  Your turn Alex!

thats exactly what i said when i saw this on FLD, personally i'll always have a couple rather than a drop top { and if i had to get a drop top i'll rather go with a targa cuz the second u take the top off u ruin the structural rigidity of the car but i do get y some ppl may prefer a drop top however when it comes to a car like the Scuderia doesn't having a drop top version defeat the purpose??? i mean essentially that thing is a factory streetable track day toy, so having the top off isnt 2 smart cuz with that come weight {although i think i read that some how they managed to save some weight while taking the top off} but u defiantly get more body flex and thats defiantly good especially for the track. in the same breath more than half the ppl that can afford these cars, coupe or otherwise never take it past 120mph let alone anywhere near its limits on the street or on the track so i guess it doesn't really matter. as far as favorite places 2 speed i think i'm kinda gonna have to agree with Bikewriter, it might not be 2 smart 2 put that stuff up cuz the next time u decide to speed down that stretch of ur favorite speed trap free road u might run into a nasty surprise. that side, i've done many a top speed run on US 29 from the whiteock off ramp all the way down to ellicott city and its fast becoming one of my favorite stretch of straight highway road mostly cuz it so close to where i live, its funny cuz most of my friends hate that particular stretch cuz they keep getting pulled over but i guess i'm just lucky. 

A bit off topic, but what is a good, reliable, high quality way of watching Top Gear on Sunday night?

Look out for a blank charger w/ black windows on the LIE. He is a dog and will chase everything down. Seen him take like 50 people down over a week. 

Best places to speed is on the northern state parkway unless you get unlucky and get a trooper. 

How about a segment on the following subjects...

1) How Nazi like mileage, emissions and safety laws have hurt auto companies.

2) How insane energy policy from the government has manufactured much of the current economic problems.

3) How unions have helped to destroy the US auto industry.

I'm a student at Arizona State University and I've been by the Scottsdale speed cameras numerous times. People get bagged for speeding all the time, but if they were really dedicated to not getting a ticket, there are ways around it. The locations of the cameras are posted up on the internet, and you can program them into a GPS, which will warn you when you are approaching them, so you will have time to slow down safely. 

As for my favorite places to speed, just about any where. I'm originally from Massachusetts, which has some of the most cracked, potholed roads in the nation, but on the newer streets you can get a smooth run.

In Germany, if you borrow your car to someone, and the car (with driver's face)is captured by a speed camera, you don't get the ticket if you can prove it wasn't you driving. In the States, if the state doesn't require a front plate, how can they capture you on camera?
