NOS Rental Vette vs Nissan GT-R - Garage419

Just saw the vid with the rental 'Vette... Great Idea. The GTR is pretty sweet, but have you ever considered a '91 GMC Syclone? Aerodynamics of a shoebox, only 280hp, 350 ft/lbs no launch control, but with 0-60 times still in the 4 second range. Quick in the 1/4 and around 21mpg down the road. All for just $25k in '91. Talk about a bargain.

So by your vette time of 8.66@88mph and the GTR time of 7.91@92mph , using several E.T. caculators , the vette is making only 350 flywheel hp , while the GTR is making 480 flywheel hp. Your times also translate to 13.5@109mph in the 1/4 for the vette. And 12.4@114mph for the GTR. Calling the vette a slug is pretty silly , considering you ran the slowest time EVER for a 435hp , 3500 lb.(with driver) car, WITH 100 shot nitrous. The vette should have run mid 12's @ 115 WITHOUT nitrous and 11's @ 120plus WITH nitrous in the 1/4. Like I previously said...what was wrong with the vette ??? 88mph in the 1/8 is a joke for that car.

Did Hertz see that a kit was installed when you guys returned it? And have you been fined by Hertz yet? even if they didnt see upon return that a kit was put in someone somewher must have tipped of to them that this vid exists.

Great thing guys!!! I had to laugh so loud when I hear Gene built a NOS system in a rental Corvette... Did he got mail from Hertz with a huge bill for rebuilding the engine?

My STOCK 2002 z28 auto runs 8.5 @ 86 in the 1/8th on STOCK tires. So why does a vette with almost 200 more hosepower and 200 pounds lighter, than my car, run such a PATHETIC time AND mph ??? No disrespect...just curious, what was wrong with the vette ?

It looked like the Vette got the jump on the first run and got pulled by the GTR and just barely lost. I assume you guys we're decided the race by ET only. It was surprising to see the GTR pull against the sprayed Vettae, shows the GTR has good grunt. Would have been closer if the Vette ran with good tires. I bet the GTR still won on the 5 (highway).

Has anyone ever considered painting the front center bumper the same color as the rest of the body? That would look so much more cool don't you guys think?

What an awesome and funny episode! I laughed my ass off as soon as I heard that they were spraying a rental car. Good job guys you just got your self a new fan of this show. Also this reminds me a lot of Top Gear.

I'm a die hard Vette fan, but 1/8 mile 2 wheel drive vs. 4? Really wasn't a competition. A Zo6 or Zrl would probably would would have crushed the GTR on the 1/8 mile, no doubt any of the Vettes could have won on the 4th mile.

* Did u guys consider swapping cars just for shits 'n gigles? That way we could see if it was the driver or the car? Seeing them side by side, which car was more attractive? Nissan made a serious mistake by deleting the Pearl White color for 2010.

I dont think that was matt's personal car, it was the car that he borrow from adam from streetfire i think. Or that was the gtr he borrow during LA autoshow, i thinkt they are the same car. well hopfully none of those rental agents watches garage419 or gene's rental will b a lot more.
