The Best Weekend of the Year!
-J.F. Musial

What more could a piston-head ask for: two amazing racing events in one weekend. Saturday started with the 24 hours of Le Mans, the race of races. Since 1923, Le mans has been known as the Grand Prix of Endurance racing. Le Mans is an event that not only tests the limits of drivers racing throughout the night, but also the technology and engineering of the vehicles which travel the near 3,000 miles. For those of us that are obsessed with long-distance driving, this is the event that has brought us to where we are.

As Le Mans continues throughout most of the weekend, the Formula One boys and girls will be battling it out in Indiana at the U.S. Grand Prix. For the first two qualifying sessions on Saturday, the defending champion Fernando Alonso had the pole. The rookie teammate of his, Lewis Hamilton, felt he could do better, so he did. He ended up beating out Alonso on the last of three qualifying laps of the day, show who truly is leading the team. What amazes me about Hamilton is that as a rookie, he is already on his way to winning the championship. His consistency and skill seems to be throwing Fernando off of his top game. Hamilton has never finished below his starting spot on the grid, a feat that can not go unnoticed. His success has sent cold chills throughout the F1 driver community. I can’t wait to see where this kid’s future goes.

Anyways – I’m going to continue to watch Speed all weekend. Peugeot was expected to really throw a wrench into the Audi machine at Le Mans, but it seems that isn’t the case. Either way, even as an absolute Audi fanatic, I must give credit to Peugeot for going down the diesel road. The future of what we will be driving on public roads is now driving around a small city in central France and at the Brickyard in Indiana.

Nice... Thanks...
